Preferred Start Information

When registering for the half marathon, please enter your estimated pace per mile and you will be seeded appropriately.

Gear check

All participants may check their gear before the start of the race at the Gear Check Area race day morning. Gear Check will be located near the Start/Finish line area. Gear Check will be available from 6:30 am -12 pm. Any items unclaimed after 12 pm will be brought back to a West Lafayette location(to be determined) where they may be claimed. If items are not claimed within 7 days of the event, they will be donated to charity.

THE PURDUE BOILERMAKER HALF MARATHON IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY LOST OR STOLEN ITEMS. PLEASE DO NOT CHECK ANYTHING OF VALUE AT THE GEAR CHECK AREA. DO NOT GIVE YOUR ITEMS TO ANY VOLUNTEER EXCEPT THOSE AT THE GEAR CHECK!

Awards

The award ceremony will take place after the event at approximately 11:00 am. The top three overall male and female finishers and the top three male and female finishers in each age group will receive awards.

Age Groups:
10-12, 13-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 and over

Walking Guidelines

If you are walking in the Purdue Boilermaker Half Marathon or 5K please follow these simple guidelines in order to make your experience and the experience of others more enjoyable.

Please start near the pace sign for your projected pace – by doing so you will be walking with others with the same pace as yourself.
Remember, the IPICO Timing device does NOT start timing the participant until the participant crosses the timing mats at the start line. The time it takes the participant to get to the starting line does not add to the race time.
Please do not attempt to move up to a faster pace as this will negatively impact the start of the race.
Walkers must maintain a pace of 18 minutes per mile or faster, for the half marathon and 5K while on the course. If the participant is unable to maintain the minimum pace, they will be asked to board the Sag Wagon support vehicle. The minimum pace cut off times will be calculated based on when the last participant for each race crosses the starting line.
Please do NOT walk more than two abreast and remember to keep to the right side of the road throughout the course.

Parking will be available at the the Northwestern Ave Parking Garage located at 504 Northwestern Avenue, West Lafayette, In. (short .4 mile walk to Packet Pick up)

Directions to Ross-Ade Stadium

From the Chicago Area
Take I-65 south to exit 178 and proceed south on IN-43 (River Rd) for 5.1 miles to Quincy St. Turn right (west) on Quincy for .1 miles. Take the first left (south) on Littlejohn St. Take the first right (west) on Fowler Ave for .3 miles to Northwestern Ave. At Northwestern Ave turn slight right (north west) and proceed .9 miles to Cherry St. Turn west on Cherry St and take the first or second left into the Ross-Ade Stadium parking lot.
From the Indianapolis Area
Exit I-65 north at Exit 172 and proceed west (toward Lafayette) on State Road 26. Proceed approximately 2 miles to the intersection of State Road 26 and Sagamore Pkwy. Turn right (north) on Sagamore Pkwy and proceed .5 miles and turn left (west) on Union Street. Travel west on Union Street for .8 miles and then take a slight right as the road becomes one way and turns into Salem Street. Follow Salem Street for 2 miles. As you cross the bridge over the Wabash River, the road becomes E. Fowler Ave. /Old U.S. 231 N. Stay on Fowler Road. At Northwestern Avenue turn right (north west) and proceed .9 miles to Cherry St. Turn west on Cherry St and take the first or second left into the Ross-Ade Stadium parking lot.
From the Terre Haute Area
Take U.S. 231 north towards West Lafayette. U.S. 231 turns into S. River Rd as you near West Lafayette. Turn right to merge onto U.S 231/Fowler Ave going west towards West Lafayette. Continue on Fowler Ave to Northwestern Ave. At Northwestern Ave turn slight right (north west) and proceed .9 miles to Cherry St. Turn west on Cherry St and take the first or second left into the Ross-Ade Stadium parking lot.
From the Fort Wayne Area
Take U.S. 24 West to State Road 25 south. Follow State Road 25 to I-65. Take I-65 north to exit 178 and proceed south on IN-43 (River Rd) for 5.1 miles to Quincy St. Turn right (west) on Quincy for .1 miles. Purdue Boilermaker 5K road closures

Timing & Scoring

IPICO technology will be used to capture your official race time for the Purdue Boilermaker Half Marathon and 5K. For Overall awards, 'Gun time' (time from when race started until the time the participant crossed this finish line) will be used. For age group awards, 'Chip time' (time starts when the participant crosses the starting line and ends when the participant crosses the finish line) will be used.

DO NOT forget your tag on race day; NO TAG, NO TIME.
Please make sure you verify the IPICO tag is properly assigned to you by running your packet through the Chip Check area at Packet pick up.

All tags must be returned after you cross the finish line. Participants will be charged a $20 fee for lost or unreturned tags.

Bib number requirements

Please do not alter the race bib in any way.
The race bib should be attached to the front of your race outfit and should remain visible at all times.
Please make sure the IPICO timing tag is securely attached to the top of your shoe.

For those of you traveling to West Lafayette from out of state, Indiana now observes Daylight Savings Time, and is in the Eastern Time Zone. The Purdue Boilermaker Half Marathon will start at 8:00am EDT.
